Saturday, December 28, 2002 cati asked me yesterday if i was excited to be going to see the family in the uk. i replied that i wasn't as excited as i should be. i mean, i'm not naive enough to believe that i can just leave all the emotional baggage i currently carry at the virgin-atlantic check-in counter, though i certainly wish that i could. but, let's face it, kiddos, broken hearts and loads o' grief are oh so portable. if anything, i'm just hoping that a change of scenery and some time with family will help me focus on other things. i'm also looking forward to finding some out of the way cliff or crag where i can just scream for awhile, just freaking howl. i'd gladly sacrifice a day or two of my voice to purge a bit. anyhoo, i'm leaving tomorrow afternoon. it should take me all of 10 minutes to pack. the son of a very famous english author is picking me up by boat in guernsey and i should be at my mom's place in sark by dinnertime on monday. now i just need to find a way to the airport and i will be off. my little brother (he's 13) has offered to buy me a guinness at the mermaid pub upon my arrival and i intend to take him up on it. posted by downtown | 12:46 PM |
