![]() Wednesday, September 01, 2004 oh, the things i have seen... so much to say, so little time. if you really wanna know what's going down here in nyc, go check out nyc-indymedia or, if you wanna hear the unfiltered reports from the street, you can go to the stream at free 103. last night was one of the most surreal series of events i've ever been a part of. the official # of arrests was close to 1,200, but we're hearing it may be close to twice that. i personally saw with my own eyes perhaps 200. 11 IMC videographers were arrested as well. i was damned lucky not to be one of them as there were a few occassions i thought i was a goner for sure. the action rippled and rolled across midtown all evening long and several times i saw the police completely lose control of the situation, particularly a breakaway march that left herald square and shot down 5th avenue and went running through the streets on madison and park. they were always one block, one intersection behind. they were scared, the kids were scared, i was scared. i saw a number of kids arrested for quite literally being in the wrong place at the wrong time, kids who weren't a part of whatever was happening at the time. i got a lot of it on tape. gotta run. this thing isn't over yet. hopefully when these assholes finally leave town i'll have a moment to catch my breath, uploade some pictures and tell some war stories. i'll try not to go to jail. here's a couple of the more light hearted images of the day. ![]() from the 'defend johnny cash' action at sotheby's. ![]() seen outside a 'gentleman's club' on 33rd st. le tigre: "get off the internet" "i'll meet you in the streets.... ....destroy the right wing.." posted by downtown | 5:15 PM |
